[Letter from Janina Gołębiewska]
Collection | Główna Biblioteka Lekarska im. S. Konopki |
Description | In this document, sent to the Medical Chamber in Warsaw, Janina Gołębiewska confirms the fact that she was Janusz Korczak only living relative. She asks about his parents' details and whether he owns any property in Warsaw. Dated 24 July 1948, this document is one of the first attempts to secure inheritance relating to Janusz Korczak by Janina Gołębiewska. In 1953, she filed a legal claim to confirm her rights to such inheritance in a regional court in Lublin. This right was not awarded her. Janina Gołębiewska died in 1968. She was the daughter of Aleksandra Cecylia Reiner, who changed her faith to Catholicism and in 1890 was married to Antoni Gołębiewski. Aleksandra Cecylia Reiner was in turn the daughter of Mindla Goldszmit Reiner, the sister of Józef Goldszmit, Janusz Korczak's father. |
