Description Janusz Korczak (Henryk Goldszmit) with staff at summer camps in the branch of the Dom Sierot (Orphans' Home) "Różyczka", commonly known as Gocławek. Sitting from left to right: Lejb (Arie) Buchner, Janusz Korczak, hostess Helena Fliederbaum, Chaskiel Bajn; standing from left to right: Abram Perec, Szymon Korentajer and Zalman Wasercug. The educators of the Dom Sierot (Orphans' Home) looked after the children in accordance with Korczak's pedagogical model. Another graduate student - Izak Reis (1908–1979), a writer known as Sydor Rey, who was also an apprentice there for a year, later recalled: „The Doctor, as we called him, was compassionate not only to orphans and poor children, but to children in general. He assumed that children live under the oppression of adults, that an adult understands less than an adult’s child, that bringing up a child should be based on cooperation between an adult and a child, in other words, the child should participate in its upbringing".
