The application of Henryk Goldszmit (Janusz Korczak) to the Jewish Council with a job offer in a boarding school for orphans at Dzielna 39 Street
Collection | Żydowski Instytut Historyczny |
Description | Dated 9th of February 1942, this autobiographical document is a work application for Henryk Goldszmit (Janusz Korczak) addressed to the Personal Office of the Jewish Council. Janusz Korczak, moved by the tragic conditions suffered by children living in the Main House of Refuge in the Ghetto at 39 Dzielna Street, decided to manage it for a month. The only demand made upon candidates applying for the job of director was filing a curriculum vitae with the Personal Office of the Jewish Council. Korczak uses a literary format to describe his health, personal experience, professional career, expressing his inspirations and defining his strengths and weaknesses.
