Description | The photo shows educators at a summer camp for poor Christian children in Wilhelmówka near Ostrołęka. The young doctor Henryk Goldszmit (fourth from the left) stands among the so-called caretakers, i.e. educators. Their names are unknown. The Wilhelmówka center belonged to the Warsaw philanthropic Summer Camp Society, Janusz Korczak (Henryk Goldszmit) was its member in the years 1900–1914. In 1904 and 1907, the writer also worked as an educator in summer camps for Jewish children in the Michałówka center near Małkinia, near the town of Daniłowo-Błędnica. The experience gained there was used by him to create two reportage novels: Mośka, Joska and Srule (1910) and Józki, Jaśki and Franki (1911), in which he recorded the profiles and adventures of real colonists.
