Description | Portrait of Janusz Korczak (Henryk Goldszmit) made by Edward Poznański. A friend of the Dom Sierot (Orphans' Home), in the 1930s he visited 92 Krochmalna Street and the Warsaw branch of the Różyczka House. As an amateur photographer, he portrayed children. Years later, he recalled that it was difficult to convince the "Doctor" himself to pose for a picture, but in the end he managed to take two portraits of Korczak - in profile (in a cap) and en face. Edward Poznański (1901-1974) was a philosopher, mathematician, representative of the Warsaw school of logical and philosophy. He came from a family close to Korczak. He was a son of a scholar and preacher Samuel Abraham Poznański (1864-1921) and the brother of the psychologist Adela of Poznań Hagari (1909-2002). In Poland he was, among others, the secretary of the Society of Friends of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. After moving to Palestine in 1938, he became permanently associated with the University, soon as a professor of philosophy.
