Description | The photo shows employees of the "Różyczka", branch of the Dom Sierot (Orphans’ Home) in the summer of 1930 in the village of Czaplowizna near Warsaw, located in the Wawer commune. First from the left is Dr. Rywka Boszes, then Krystyna Szwarcbard [Szwarcbaum?], Ida Halpern (Merżan), Żanna Zelikman (Korman), Gita Halpern, Dr. Zofia Gocław (Filskraut), and Róża Abramowicz. On the right you can see the figure of a child from the kindergarten in 'Różyczka'. The pupils of the Dom Sierot (Orphans' Home), as well as other Jewish orphanages from Warsaw, stayed in Różyczka (colloquially known as Gocławek) during the holidays. For Dr. Rywka Boszes, these were the first summer camps during which she looked after children as a certified doctor. She completed her medical studies at the University of Warsaw in June of the same year. Earlier, from 1924, as an educator and a nurse, she spent many summers in Czaplowisko.
